Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz is one of Europe’s most prodigious talents

At the tender age of 20, Kai Havertz has already been dubbed as one of the next big stars in football – a future Ballon d’Or winner, a player to stand above the rest.

This is something similar we’ve been hearing about some other youngsters as well, namely Kylian Mbappe, who’s received identical treatment from the media and other stars alike ever since breaking onto the scene.

And similarly to the young World Cup winner, Havertz’s claims seem very much warranted despite his tender. After all, not many can boast the accolade of being crowned Bayer Leverkusen’s player of the season at such a young age, nor can they boast netting an incredible 20 goals and tallying seven assists in just 42 games across all competitions in 2018/19,as per iSports API.

This in itself is already an incredible achievement but what exactly makes Havertz so special and who is this 20-year-old who’s seemingly setting the world alight? Let’s start at the beginning.

Havertz joined the Leverkusen youth in 2010 and has quickly progressed through the ranks, reaching the senior team in 2016. Since then, his estimated value has skyrocketed and now he’s worth £81m, per iSports API.

He’s the second most valuable player in the Bundesliga, only behind Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

The attacking midfielder’s talent is undeniable. Despite not being the finished product just yet, he is already a lethal finisher, exceptionally technical with great vision and versatility while also being physically powerful enough and dominant in the air.

From the looks of it, Havertz truly is the whole package just waiting to be delivered to the doorstep of an elite club. Let’s analyse his traits in more detail.

His technical side can immediately be seen from his passing and dribbling abilities. Last season, according to Wyscout, he boasted 89.6% passing accuracy in Bundesliga with 2.25 long balls per game. Similarly, he attempted 3.76 dribbles per game in 2018/19 with a success rate of 59.1%, accoding to iSports API.

It seems that if they can’t stop him fairly the opponents resort to dropping him to the ground, with Whoscored noting Havertz was fouled 1.5 times per game.

But despite only managing one key pass per game, his assist tally tells a different story. Seven assists throughout all competitions last season is an impressive figure and those usually arrive by virtue of his deadly passes.

We can see the proof of his outstanding vision and passing prowess in his game. Havertz receives the ball in a slightly deeper position and as soon as his spots his teammate’s run, he reacts with a beautiful pass over the defence and into the free pocket of space behind the opposition.

As we’ve seen in the stats above, this is almost a regular occurrence for the young midfielder. His 6ft 2 frame enabled him to win 1.6 aerial duels per Bundesliga game in 2018/19 and that also makes the youngster a real threat in the box in crossing situations. But his talents don’t stop just there.

According to iSports API, Havertz has played in a multitude of positions throughout his career, ranging from central midfield, to number ten, to winger. This versatility makes him an outstanding asset to any team and it offers flexibility when the manager wishes to tinker with his system.

And judging by his heatmap above, Havertz is pretty much active on the whole right side of the pitch, regardless of his delegated position on the teamsheet.

Bayer Leverkusen have a player that offers a variety of different skills including passing, vision, technique, physicality and, most importantly, a finishing prowess that netted him 20 goals across all competitions last season.

But there’s also one final aspect worth discussing and that’s the fact that Havertz is already a clutch player at just 20 years of age.

Bayer Leverkusen played eight games in the Europa League in 2018/19 and he scored three goals and assisted a further three, a remarkable return given the prestige of the competition.

Needless to say, he played a big role in both the Bundesliga and Europa League campaigns for his team and very much deserved the Player of the Season award that was presented to him.

All that remains for us now is to wait and see how high this prodigious talent can rise in the game.

If the story so far is anything to go by, the sky is the limit for Havertz.

Neymar Is The Best Choice For Bacelona To Increase Strength

Barcelona are confident of bringing Neymar back to the club after talks on Tuesday with Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Goal, Barca CEO Oscar Grau travelled to the French capital with a delegation and reportedly offered the Ligue 1 champions €160 million (£144 million) plus additions for the Brazil superstar.

However, PSG want Portugal international Nelson Semedo as part of any deal and would accept €100 million (£90 million) plus the Barca defender. The Spanish champions are reportedly reluctant to let any of their squad depart Catalonia.

The 27-year-old left the Blaugrana for Les Parisiens for a world-record fee of £222 million (£200 million) during 2017's summer transfer window, as per isports API.

However, just two years on, it appears the forward could soon be lining up once again with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to form their revered attacking trident. It was felt Neymar wanted to escape the shadow of Messi by leaving Barca, but his two years in the French capital have not brought success in the UEFA Champions League to the Parc des Princes.

The Spanish team have allowed Philippe Coutinho to leave for Bayern Munich on loan with a view to a permanent transfer, and the full-time exit of Neymar's compatriot would open the door for a dramatic return for the PSG talisman.

Barca have continued to dominate in La Liga, but Neymar would be expected to help Ernesto Valverde take the club back to the top of European competition.

Loan Dani Ceballos From Real Madrid, The Best Transfer For ARSENAL In Recent Years

The U21 Euros may not be a true indication of a player’s talent, but provides a glimpse into their potential. No matter, winners Spain went one step further than they did two years ago and exacted revenge upon Germany in last month’s final as goals from Fabian Ruiz and Dani Olmo delivered success to La Rojita, the latter of who has been linked with a move to Premier League.

There’s another Spaniard who shone in Italy that has been loan out to England, Dani Ceballos has been a member of the gunners. Real Madrid are prepared to cash in on Ceballos, despite thriving for Luis de la Fuente’s side this summer. The massive recruitment drive means Los Blancos need to cash in on fringe and young players, with the 22-year-old available for transfer as the LaLiga powerhouse ready a big money move for Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen.

Even as he put a disappointing season behind him to excel for Spain, his availability is expected to trigger a mad scramble for his signature. A lack of a consistent run in the Real Madrid side means Ceballos has struggled to replicate his Real Betis performances at the Bernabeu and a change in role for the U21 side brought out the best in the in-demand attacker, who proved just how dangerous a midfielder he can be when a team plays to his strengths.

Unfortunately, with Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane eager to continue with the 4-3-3 setup at the Bernabeu, Ceballos has become marginalised by the Frenchman and it’s only a matter of time before the Spaniard departs for pastures new and, if a team can tap into his immense potential, then he’ll make for a fine addition to any side.

That said, he showcased a number of his best traits despite his limited time on the pitch. Only Arthur (93.5%) had a better pass success rate than Ceballos (92.6%) of those aged 23 and under in LaLiga last season, as per isportsapi.com, with his ball retention qualities shining through time and time again. Yet while he performed admirably in a central midfield role, it was in the number 10 role that saw him really rise to prominence this summer.

Ceballos made more successful final third passes (144) than any other player at the U21 Euros, as per isportsapi.com, with his ability to pick out a teammate in the attacking third with ease a hugely effective strength to his game that can be utilised by any top flight manager. The Spaniard was top for key passes (14) and joint-top for assists (2) at the competition, with nobody able to really fault the creative side to his game.

When pressed with the chance to score, too, Ceballos didn’t disappoint. It was his rasping effort from distance against Italy that set Spain on their path to international success this summer and he added his second of the tournament in their 5-0 rout over Poland. Both goals came when starting behind the striker, so it adds further weight to the idea that he has been mismanaged by Zidane at Real Madrid.

Given his age, Ceballos could be coached to adapt his game enough to succeed in a central midfield role, but you’d be robbing the player of the chance to really put opponents to the sword. Having completed more dribbles (19) than any other player in Spain’s successful summer, as per iSportsapi.com, having him feature behind the frontmen provides a more direct route to goal, adding another dimension to an attack.

There’s no denying that Ceballos’ development has stunted at Real Madrid and he is yet to really hit the heights of his Real Betis days. A change of scenery would do the player the world of good and away from the glaring spotlight that comes from playing for Real Madrid, Ceballos would have a fresh opportunity to take his game to the next level. Even in just a handful of appearances for the U21 national team, the freedom granted to the player allowed him to attack defences on a whim as he played a key role in Spain’s summer success.

Real Madrid clearly wasn’t the right move for Ceballos and potential suitors should be queueing up at the Bernabeu to convince the midfielder to move to their side this summer.

EARLY IMPRESSIONS ON PREMIER LEAGUE BY iSports API

The English Premier League is considered to be the most entertaining competition in the world. Liverpool hosted Norwich in the opening game of the season. The derby between Manchester United and Chelsea was the final showpiece of the weekend.

After the first two games of each club, iSports API would like to share what impressed us the most. Our focus will be on the top six clubs.

Manchester City

It is hard to believe that City seem to be even more frightening team this year. The reigning champions have a real strength in depth. They trashed West Ham in their visit to the London Stadium without selecting two of the most important players from last season in their starting line-up. Sergio Aguero was a second-half substitute while Bernardo Silva stayed on the bench for 90 minutes.

However, the Citizens’ performance was not affected by their absence. Raheem Sterling was the man of the match with his hat-trick but Riyad Mahrez (two assists) and Gabriel Jesus (1 goal) also delivered. As Jose Mourinho said, Manchester City B team can be a real title challenger.

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool enjoyed a successful start of the season beating Norwich comfortably at Anfield. Sadio Mane started on the bench but their attack was firing at full cylinders. Klopp’s men had a 4-0 lead in the 42nd minute. However, that results doesn’t tell the whole story. Liverpool were frustrated by the high press of Norwich. It led to some defensive errors and the Canaries had few good opportunities to score the first goal.

Another setback was the injury of Allison who may be sidelined for some time. The Reds had the best defence in the league last year, so such worries at the back came as a surprise. Klopp needs to find the defensive stability asap as it will be crucial for their title battle.

TOTTENHAM

Spurs strengthened their squad significantly during the summer with the signings of Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso. The Frenchman even scored his first goal against Aston Villa. Despite those transfers, Tottenham struggled to break their opponents until late in the game.

The key moment was when Pochettino brought on Christian Eriksen in search of an equaliser. The future of the Danish international is still unclear but his current employers have to make anything possible to keep him at their disposal. Eriksen’s vision and great passing range are vital for Tottenham’s system.

One of the players who usually bear the fruits from his distribution is Harry Kane. Spurs’ talisman had struggled to find form early in the previous seasons but scored twice on Sunday. Tottenham need him to hit the ground running in order to keep pace with the league leaders.

CHELSEA

Frank Lampard had a debut to forget at the helm of Chelsea. His side was beaten 4-0 at Old Trafford but some positives can still be taken from that game. Chelsea were on the front foot from the start and United had no answer to their intensive press early on.

The Blues conceded against the run of play but still hit the woodwork twice in the first half. The second part of the game was a different story and Chelsea’s defence was badly exposed by United’s counter-attacks. Lampard relied on the younger players but he still has to find the right balance. Some of the more experienced team members are about to return from injuries which would help his cause.

ARSENAL

Unai Emery raised a few eyebrows with his starting line-up against Newcastle. The Gunners signed a couple of players for the first team but none of them started the game. Arsenal fought hard for the three points and Aubameyang showed his poacher instinct again.

Dani Ceballos, Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe made their debuts and their fluid integration in the team may not be a bad idea after all. Emery has to find the right formula to win games until that happens.

MANCHESTER UNITED

All debutants performed well in their first outing for the club. Harry Maguire dominated the aerial duels, intercepted a lot of passes and was calm with the ball in his feet. Aaron Wan Bissaka kept making a tackle after tackle and his aggression is a great addition to the team.

Daniel James managed to find the net in his first appearance for the club. Besides the new signings, there were some other positives. Martial and Rashford scored as both will be trusted to replace Lukaku in the attack.

Pogba made two great assists but the speculations about his future are still ongoing. United’s midfield relies on him heavily and the Red Devils were struggling to keep the ball in the first half until he started to perform after the break. His potential department would be a great setback for the team.

And, they’re available for live streaming and on-demand video platforms.

All in a world, An API helps solve technical problems. It allows you to build powerful platforms that interface with other systems to exchange data. 10 players who could take the Championship by storm this season by iSports API

With the Championship season kicking off this weekend, we have some players to focus on in 2019/20.

With 46 matchdays ahead of us, plus five play-off games, we are expecting these 10 to deliver.

Aleksander Mitrović, Fulham

Having taken the Championship by storm in 2017/18, Mitrović managed 11 goals last season despite Fulham’s dismal attempts to stay up.

You’d have been forgiven for expecting the Serbian to leave this summer but he penned a new deal at Craven Cottage instead and now has to be the favourite to be the Championship’s top scorer.

Kalvin Phillips, Leeds United

Phillips’ ability is no secret. The versatile midfielder became a key part of Leeds’ promotion push last season.

Earning the trust of Marcelo Bielsa, the 23-year-old is crucial defensively for Leeds and helps launch attacks from the base of midfield.

If the Whites are to have success this year, he will be central to it.

Jay Dasilva, Bristol City

An exciting left-back, Dasilva’s loan move from Chelsea has now been made permanent.

Ollie McBurnie, Swansea City

Swansea fans didn’t have a great deal to cheer last season but Ollie McBurnie was a massive success.

While Daniel James has left for Manchester United, McBurnie remains and will carry the attacking burden for Steve Cooper’s side.

Now 23, the striker will look to build on the 22 goals he netted last term.

Neal Maupay, Brentford

Another candidate for the golden boot, Neal Maupay could consider himself unlucky not to be linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer.

Brentford won’t mind, though.

Lucas João, Sheffield Wednesday

Lee Bullen is, for now, in charge at Hillsborough and we have high hopes that he’ll use Lucas João regularly.

The Portuguese has struggled to become a guaranteed starter for Wednesday but has netted a goal every 180 minutes across the last two seasons. Get him in the team!

Nick Powell, Stoke City

Signed on a free from Wigan, Powell could be a game-changer in the Potteries.

A superbly gifted midfielder, the ex-Manchester United man could be one of the players of the season.

Dan Crowley, Birmingham City

Bargain of the summer? Signed for under £1m, you may be looking at him.

Having left Arsenal, Crowley went to the Netherlands in 2017 to play regular first team football.

Two years on, having impressed at Go Ahead Eagles and helped Willem II to a cup final, he’s back in England with a point to prove.

James Collins, Luton Town

“I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve never played in the Championship before, so I’m really excited to get a crack at it.”

At 28, it’s a bit late for Collins to be making his Championship bow.

There is, though, no looking back for a striker who has scored 45 times in two seasons to inspire Luton to back-to-back promotions.

Chuks Aneke, Charlton Athletic

Another former Arsenal man who could prove to be a very savvy signing.

Formerly a midfielder, Aneke reinvented himself as a striker at MK Dons.

An unselfish and intelligent forward, Aneke could be a handful for any defence he comes up against.

How to select the right data provider of Football API

Selecting the right Football API for your sports business, game or hobby project is a difficult process. Whether you are looking for Livescores, Fixtures, Standings, Odds, or any other kind of Football Data, the questions are always the same: Which provider suits your needs? How do you pick the right one? In this blog, I will explain how I travelled this road, and which common Football API shortcomings I faced, followed by a deep dive into the API I think you should explore.

Once in a while we all have ingenious ideas (or at least, we think we do). Let’s suppose you have a great business concept in mind, for which you need Football Data. Proper Football Data. You dream of building a successful Football Website, Football App, Fantasy Football Game, Predictive Betting Website, or anything that requires high-quality Football Data Feeds.

Once you have the broad strokes figured out, the long and arduous search for reliable data providers starts. You will soon find a jungle of them online, which eventually may even leave you more confused than when you first set out. Careful though, there are lots of niches to cover, and many pitfalls to avoid.

Perhaps along the way, you will find what seems like the perfect provider. One that promises you great quality, stays up to date, and seems like the answer to all your prayers. But can you really trust them? Is their data really as reliable as they claim? Do they offer fast Livescores? Or are they just pretending to have fast Livescores?

Of course, you don’t want to spend money on the wrong provider. Unfortunately, it happens to almost every budding sports entrepreneur. So, let me help you in the right direction:

Common API shortcomings:

You come across a Football API that offers you Free Data. You’ve already spent quite some time and money on your project, but the low data quality is damaging your business. In fact, you are losing customers.

You will see inaccurate data at almost every provider. Lagging Livescores, duplicate data, and missing match events, to name a few. But especially with major leagues, accurate data is KEY for a successful business. Even longstanding customers will run away if your data is consistently off the mark.

Another problem you may come across is that those providers who do have a reputation of reliability and accuracy are ridiculously expensive. Let's face it, we all know there are some providers on the market with exorbitant prices an averagely-sized company simply can’t afford.

As I myself ran into these shortcomings with several providers time and again, I decided to start iSports API. My main goal is to provide the best API in the market, that eliminates all these problems. Let me guide you through the process of selecting the right API for you.

The most important 5 API characteristics:

Having a smoothly running Football API is the recipe for success in the businesses of Football Data and Football Betting Data. In order to become a pro and crack the code towards ultimate success, here are a few things you need to keep in mind.

Data Quality

You need good data quality. Now, what is the definition of good data quality? This is when your data is accurate, complete, fast, and up-to-date. I know that so far, I have been focussing on accuracy a lot, but it really deserves all that attention, because it is so essential. Low data quality can seriously harm your credibility and customer trust. Many providers claim to have high-quality data, but they don’t, on closer inspection. Investigate it thoroughly before you trust them!

Data Coverage

Depending on your needs, data coverage may be another critical succes factor. Check the leagues your provider covers. Especially if you want your business to grow in the future, try to select the API with high football leagues coverage. You don’t know how fast your business may grow, and switching APIs halfway is really not what you want, because it will cause extra development costs and delays. You can easily prevent this by choosing the right provider right away.

Speed of Livescores and match events

If livescores are part of your business concept, make sure they are FAST. A 45-second delay for livescore updates can really harm your business. In the Football Data business, you need to be spot-on, and that requires a provider that offers real-time speed. Be sure to test it when you are comparing different providers!

API Flexibility

Lots of providers have a terribly static API setup. So, when you want to customize one to your Football Data business concept, you may find yourself wasting too much time building inefficient and complex work-arounds in its code. A flexible API allows you to simply add or remove parameters from your requests, making customization a breeze.

Support

To kick-start your implementation, your provider’s support quality is critical as well. How quickly do they reply to your emails? Do they have proper documentation on their website? Are you able to test the API from the documentation itself? How quickly do they resolve your issues? Don’t underestimate the importance of you data provider’s support!

The topics above are only a few important aspects to consider when choosing the right Football API. Of course, there’s a ton of other factors to keep in mind. But now that you are familiar with the basic ingredients to the recipe of success, here is how isports API covers all of these.

Are there any free sport score APIs?

There are a few different APIs to get scores on current games happening. The important thing will be testing the API for your specific usecase to see which one will work well for you. Here are a few that I’ve found that might help.

Some of these have a basic free plan that will allow you to use the API for free, up to a certain number of API calls.

Gold Standard - Provides sport scores forthe NFL, NBA, NCAAB, NCAAF, MLB, NHL & MLS.

Football (Soccer) Livescore - This one does not have a free plan though.

iSports API - Covered most range of sports events with reasonable fare.

RapidAPI - an online API marketplace which lets you find, test, and connect to thousands of APIs from one centralized location.
