Sam Bell started Bristol City's 1-0 win over Hull up front, but may move to the left to cover for the ineligible Anis Mehmeti.

Harry Cornick is another who is cup-tied, while Robert Atkinson, Ayman Benarous, Kane Wilson, Kal Naismith and Tommy Conway are injured.

 

Manchester City

John Stones is unlikely to recover in time from injury here, while Aymeric Laporte and Kevin De Bruyne have been dealing with illness in recent days, so may be left out altogether.

Kalvin Phillips could make just his fourth start for City following his summer arrival from Leeds, while Stefan Ortega and Sergio Gomez may both rotate in.

 

Prediction

A 1-0 win over Hull at the weekend saw Bristol City extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches in all competitions. They have won three of their last six at Ashton Gate.

Manchester City romped to a 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to five matches. City will face Bristol for the first time since 2018, when they won 3-2.

This should be routine for the visitors in what will be Bristol City's toughest game of the season so far.
