Chad couldn't have asked for a worse start to their World Cup campaign as they lost 3-1 against Mali's Les Aigles. As a result, Les Sao have now lost four of their last five matches and are winless in 17 consecutive matches since October 2019.

Madagascar received a narrow 1-0 defeat against Ghana Black Stars. Romuald Rakotondrabe's men put in a solid defensive performance and looked set to get a point before Inaki Williams scored a late winner.
