Real Madrid told to pay €75m for Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga

Real Madrid have developed quite the reputation for spending huge money on some of the best youngsters in all of world football.

Now, according to Spainish media, they’ll have to pull off the trick once again if they want to land Rennes’ 17-year-old sensation Eduardo Camavinga.

At his young age, Camavinga is already one of the best number sixes in Ligue 1, putting in several man-of-the-match performances.

As per iSports football API, Camavinga has been mature well beyond his years in his 43 first-team appearances and, as a result, Rennes are currently asking Los Blancos to cough up an eye-watering €75m for his services.

Despite multiple reports of Casemiro renewing his contract until 2023, Camavinga has reportedly been hand-picked by Zinedine Zidane to be the Brazilian’s eventual replacement, according to football data provider iSports API.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s unlikely that Real Madrid will be focused on anything more than selling off some of their unnecessary assets like James Rodríguez and Gareth Bale.

However, if Camavinga becomes more affordable or if Kylian Mbappé becomes a realistic transfer target, Real Madrid may end up opening their wallet.

Rennes will have to act quickly to either sell the France U-21 international or extend his contract as Camavinga’s current deal is up in summer 2022.

Giannis Antetokounmpo speaks out on ‘Greek Freak’ moniker

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is unlike most NBA superstars before him.

The reigning MVP possesses incredible size, length, athleticism and skill — a blend which has helped him lead the Bucks to new heights in the last two seasons, according to iSports NBA API. This blend also birthed a new nickname, one that paired his nationality with his unique physical attributes: the “Greek Freak.”

(iSports basketball data API covers a wide range of games and leagues with livescore, standings, events, line-ups, pre-match odds, statistics)

Even though the nickname sort of speaks for itself, its origin is unknown. Not even Antetokounmpo knows who first came up with the nickname, though he said he loves the moniker.

“First of all, the nickname is really good. I like it,” the Bucks superstar said during an appearance on Capture Sports Marketing’s Athletes Doing Good Radiothon last Thursday.

“I don’t remember the first time I heard about it — it was probably my rookie year — but I really don’t know who came up with it,” he said. “I just went on the court one day and I had like a crazy dunk or a crazy block and after that everyone started calling me the Greek Freak. So it stuck by me, I love it and it’s a cool nickname.”

“Freak” might not have the most positive connotation, but it is fitting for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo routinely makes highlight-reel plays on the hardwood, using his long strides and enormous reach to get to the rim and score from just about anywhere.

According to iSports basketball API, the 25-year-old was likely on his way to a second consecutive MVP in 2019-20 prior to the suspension of play due to the coronavirus crisis.

On the season, Giannis was averaging 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Bucks while also showing an increasing level of comfort in shooting from the perimeter, as per basketball data provider iSports API.

Antetokounmpo’s steady evolution continues to make him one of the most remarkable superstars in the NBA, and the nickname has become synonymous with his persona.

Liverpool make a £22million offer for Trabzonspor ace Ugurcan Cakir

According to Turkish journalist Serdar Ali Celikler, Liverpool have made a bid of £22million offer for Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Celikler confirmed that the Reds have made an official bid for the player. Cakir is also set to benefit financially from the deal.

“I can confirm that Liverpool have made a bid for Ugurcan Cakir, which is worth £22m.”

The 24-year-old has been in impressive form for Trabzonspor since his debut in 2018. He is one of the best young goalkeepers in Turkey and made his national team debut last year, according to iSports football API.

In Alisson Becker, Liverpool have arguably the best goalkeeper in goal. It is in the backup area for the Brazilian that the club is found lacking.

Although Adrian has done well when called upon, a spate of high-profile errors by him have seen the club exit the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. With Loris Karius now back at the club, Jurgen Klopp has a decision to make regarding next season’s squad.

Alisson’s injuries this season have shown how important a backup goalkeeper can be. According to football data provider iSports API's report, Klopp is keen to ensure all bases are covered in the future.

Adrian may consider his future at the end of the campaign and could go in search of regular football. The Spaniard was earlier linked with a return to Real Betis in search of first-team football.

However, one obstacle against the deal being completed could be Cakir’s ambition to play regularly. It is difficult to see him usurp Alisson at this point in time.

Breaking down John Wall’s total NBA salary from his career

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall will have collected $278,892,145 in NBA money once his current contract expires in the summer of 2023.

The Wizards drafted Wall with the first overall pick in the 2010 draft after playing one season for a star-studded Kentucky Wildcats roster that also boasts fellow NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins and two-way veteran guard Eric Bledsoe.

The explosive guard went on to have a commendable rookie season norming averages of 16.4 points and 8.3 assists per game according to iSports NBA livescore API while making $5,144,280. His efforts just fell short of grabbing Rookie of the Year which Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans won.

In his second year, John Wall made $4,451,040. He finished his rookie contract with the Wizards by earning $5,915,880 in Year 3 and $7,459,925 in Year 4, as per iSports basketball API.

As expected, the Wizards signed Wall to a five-year, $84.8 million maximum rookie extension which kicked in during Year 5. The former Wildcat made $14,746,000 during the 2014-15 season. That was the first year of the extension.

To complete his rookie-scale extension, John Wall made $15,851,950 in 2015-16, $16,957,900 in 2016-17, $18,063,850 in 2017-18 and $19,169,800 in 2018-19. During that span, Wall averaged 21.0 points and 10.1 assists over 228 games. He also made three All-Star teams, according to iSports basketball data API.

In 2016-17, there was arguably no better point guard than Wall. He averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists. After that season ended, the Wizards signed Wall to a monstrous four-year, $171 million Designated Veteran Player Extension. The contract was set to kick in during the 2019-20 season.

Unfortunately, the injury bug started catching up to John Wall during the 2017-18 campaign. However, the superstar played through the ailments because that’s how he was brought up to play. The wear and tear ultimately kept making Wall’s pain worse. He finally made the smart decision to undergo heel surgery during the 2018-19 season after playing in 32 games, recorded by iSports basketball data.

After he got his heel surgery, though, John Wall fell at his house and tore his Achilles tendon. He was set to miss the entire 2019-20 season.

Wall has yet to fully live up to the contract due to injuries and has been the subject of ridicule among NBA circles and some far-fetched trade rumors.

Moving forward, Wall will make $41,254,920 in 2020-21, $44,310,840 2021-22 and $47,366,760 in 2022-23. He has career averages of 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists in 573 games with the Wizards.

Borussia Dortmund suffer injury blow with key player

Borussia Dortmund have received a blow with club-captain Marco Reus likely to miss the rest of the season as a result of the adductor injury picked up earlier this year, German media reports.

The Germany international has been in good form for the Bundesliga outfit this term and he has bagged 12 goals and seven assists from 26 appearances in all competitions, according to iSports livescore API.

(iSports football data API covers a wide range of games and leagues with livescore, standings, events, line-ups, pre-match odds, statistics)

Reus’ career has been hampered by injuries which have seen him miss important games for club and country but over the past couple of years, he has managed to keep himself fit with only minor niggles.

See the source image

However, it appears that he may not feature for the club for the rest of the current campaign due to the adductor injury suffered during the 3-2 defeat to Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 tie in February, as per football data provider iSports API.

Dortmund are scheduled to face Bayern Munich in the Der Klassiker next week and the game should be relishing to watch with both teams in a good run of form this year.

Bayern as usual are leading the proceedings at the current phase of the season but Dortmund are right behind them with only four points being the difference.

Dortmund returned to Bundesliga action after the coronavirus shutdown with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Schalke in the Revierby. Bayern, meanwhile, had to battle it out for a 2-0 triumph at Union Berlin.

With the January arrival of Erling Braut Haaland, Dortmund have a quality striker, who can carry the goalscoring burden in the absence of Reus but they may still miss the creative presence of their captain from the number 10 role.

Irrespective of this, Lucien Favre’s side can’t afford to drop points in the title pursuit. They have an away game at Wolfsburg this weekend before they host Bayern at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.

Marseille have offered André Villas-Boas a 1-year extension

Football data provider iSports API report that Ligue 1 side Marseille have now formally offered their Portuguese Head Coach André Villas-Boas a one-year contract extension, which if signed would see AVB’s deal run until June 2022.

Contacts never stopped between OM President Jacques-Henri Eyraud and Villas-Boas’ agents despite a series of meetings last week between the pair, the conclusion of which appeared set to be the departure of the ex-Tottenham and Chelsea boss, who magnificently led Marseille to a 2nd placed finish this season, despite limited financial means, as per iSports football API.

The offer from a financial perspective is on the same wage terms that AVB is currently on. Villas-Boas remains highly affected by Eyraud’s forcing out of one of the Portuguese’s most trusted club allies, Andoni Zubizaretta, who resigned as Sporting Director last week.

The ex-Barcelona man was responsible for the hiring of AVB in the first place. As a result, Villas-Boas is not certain to accept the proposal now on the table.
