UEFA Champions League -- Manchester United vs Atalanta

Manchester United are set to play Atalanta at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

 

 

Manchester United fell to another league defeat to Leicester City at the weekend and sit only third in Group F. Manchester United have picked up just one point from their last three Premier League games, coming from a 1-1 draw with Everton between a loss at home to Aston Villa and Saturday's dramatic 4-2 defeat at Leicester City. They also started Champions League their poorly with a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of group underdogs Young Boys. 

 

 

 

 

Atalanta are top of the group and come into the match on the back of a strong Serie A victory. So far they have lost two of their first seven matches and edging just three narrow victories against teams they should have been comfortably beating. In their previous game, Atalanta beat Aurelio Andreazzoli's Empoli 4-1 in Serie A. And that victory moved the team up to sixth in the standings.

 

 

Manchester United did not keep a clean sheet in the last eight games in all competitions. And Atalanta have also been struggling to keep the clean sheet, shipping two goals at Inter, three goals to Milan, and one goal to Empoli in the last three rounds. Therefore, expect this game will be a goal feast. 

UEFA Champions League -- Paris Saint Germain (PSG) vs RB Leipzig

Paris Saint-Germain are set to play RB Leipzig at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

 

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) sit pretty atop the Ligue 1 rankings with 10 wins from 12 in all competitions this term. They were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Club Brugge on matchday one. However, Paris Saint Germain marched to a 2-0 win over Manchester City in their most recent European contest. So far, they have recorded of six wins from six Ligue 1 encounters this term and  scored at least two goals each time.

 

 

 

 

RB Leipzig

With only three wins to boast from their last 10 games in all tournaments, RB Leipzig lost 1-2 to Brugge at home the last game week in the Champions League. As for their domestic league, RB Leipzig drew 1-1 against Christian Streich's Freiburg in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig are also on a five-game winless run away from home since beating Sandhausen in the DFB-Pokal back in August.

 

RB Leipzig whose league form has not been fantastic have endured a slow start under new manager Jesse Marsch. In contrast, Paris Saint Germain's talent means that they are the favourites to win almost every game they play this season.  

Arsenal VS Crystal Palace

In the last round, although Arsenal was tied 0-0 by Brighton and the momentum of four consecutive wins was terminated, they are still unbeaten in the last five games. Now Aubameyang and Lacazettehave returned and the strength of the team has naturally doubled. Tottenham Hotspur record in London derbies is already looking bleak following three successive defeats to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal last month. However, in their predceding game, the Spurs claimed a confidence-boosting 2-1 win over Aston Villa. They had scored two or more goals in three of their past four overall games.

 

 

Newcastle United are yet to post a win this new season. Besides, Spurs have  only lost one of their previous eight league meetings against Newcastle United. Therefore, it’s believed that Tottenham Hotspur ought to be able to secure this win.

France Ligue 1 -- Paris Saint Germain (PSG) VS Angers

PSG has led Ligue 1 with 24 points after nine rounds this season, up to 6 points ahead of Lens in the second. But they lost 2-0 away to Rennes in the last round of League, ushering in the first defeat of Paris season. Messi, Neymar, Mbappé and Di María put on a strong offense formation, but the team's back line was unstable and lost in the end. Their impending WC Qualifiers - N & C America tie sees United States facing opposition in the form of Costa Rica on Wednesday.

Prior to the trip to Panama City, the USA had gleaned eight points from their opening four Qualifying fixtures. And they have won 14 of their last 15 home games across all tournaments - with the one exception being a 1-1 draw with Canada last month. On Sunday, USA were given a humbling 1-0 loss away from home against Panama.

 

 

 

 

Costa Rica's bid for a fifth World Cup Finals appearance in six editions got off to a morale-depleting start with only three points and one goal from their first four fixtures. There were only three goals scored in their last seven matches in all competitions and their last three games away from home have ended 0-0. In their previous game, Costa Rica beat El Salvador 2-1.

 

 

Two teams have already faced each other once this year, and just like in four of the last five head-to-head matches between them, the USA won the match. And given their recent states, expect the home team will go on their journey to win.
