Sydney ended the premier season in fifth place and 17 points behind Melbourne City. However, they had a strong finish to the season winning their last three league games scoring eight goals. That led them to the play-off semi-finals at Western Sydney Wanderers. They made a splash by beating them 2-1 after trailing at half-time.

 

Melbourne City ended the main season 11 points clear at the top to advance straight into the play-off semi-finals. A large part of that advantage is due to their excellent home form. They are unbeaten at home with ten wins and three draws.

 

They ended the main season with an eight-match unbeaten run but keeping a clean sheet is not their strong point. The last 14 games all saw both teams score.
